Forgive us our Debts, as we Forgive our Debtors
(Matthew 6:9-13 with focus on the need to repent of Replacement Theology)
This part of the Lord's Prayer is key to living a life of freedom in Yeshua. Not only are we charged to forgive others (Matthew 6:14-15), but we are also to seek forgiveness when we have offended others, and certainly when we have offended God (Matthew 5:23-24). When we forgive others, we find that we are truly set free, and healing can begin in our lives.
Similarly, God has promised the same thing for our land, if we will humble ourselves to ask for forgiveness. 2 Chronicles 7:14 tells us:
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
God has called His People to seek His face and turn from our wicked ways. Just as in the days of the Old Testament, we the church, have set up idols before the Lord. One idol, is the false teaching of Replacement Theology. The theology, quickly stated, says that God has forsaken the Jewish people, and has rejected them for rejecting Messiah Jesus. Therefore, all the promises of both the OId and New Testaments belong to the Church now. Dear Ones, this teaching is a lie from the pit of hell itself. For the Bible clearly says that God CANNOT forget Israel.
(Isaiah 49:15-16) Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.
(Romans 11:11) Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious.
(Romans 11:23-24) And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!
Another subtle teaching of Replacement Theology is that God has rejected the Jewish people until the tribulation. In this case, there is an apathy towards ministering to the Jewish people, blessing the Jewish people, and even leading them to Yeshua. It is true that there is coming a day when the nation of Israel will recognize that Yeshua is the Messiah, and that this occurs at the end of the tribulation. But this speaks of the Nation of Israel, God still calls individuals to know Him through Yeshua. He is calling the Jewish people right now to Him through Yeshua the Messiah.
Indeed, God's blessing in Genesis is still very much in affect today for the Nation of Israel:
(Genesis 12:3) I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."
The Nation of Israel is still the apple of God's eye, and God calls us to comfort His People:
Isaiah 40:1 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. 2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord's hand double for all her sins.
In addition to that Romans 15:27 says that the Gentiles owe the Jewish people material blessings:
They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews' spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings.
For God's church to really experience new freedom, a fresh anointing, and power we must repent of Replacement Theology in our thinking, and from our pulpits! There is much to say on this subject, and we have greatly condensed the teaching into a few paragraphs to bring attention to our need to repent.
And so we pray that the Holy Spirit lead you and guide you as you examine your own heart for traces of this false teaching.
"Lord, please open our eyes to Your Word, to take the whole counsel of God to heart, and to see the Truth of how You see the Jewish People and the Nation of Israel. Forgive us O God, for receiving or teaching Replacement Theology. We ask for a cleansing of our hearts, and a renewing of our minds in Messiah Jesus. We thank You for your forgiveness, and ask that you will heal our land. In the Name of Yeshua we pray. Amen!"
