Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread
Daily Provision has been one of the most prominent concerns for humans ever since the fall of mankind. A very important question we need to ask ourselves is where does our provision really come from? Does it come from a good college education? Does it come from a good career? How about a two income family? Many people have invested thousands of dollars and even sacrificed the beginnings of their families to pursue a college education in hopes that it will be their provision. Some people say that you can not be "successful" unless you have a college education, and in so doing treat all those who do not have one with contempt. This line of thinking even goes into what people may do for a living. How many times have you heard someone treat others with contempt because they work at a fast food restaurant? Or treat others with contempt because their work gets them dirty?
Some people teach that all of life's resources are like a big pie. The more pie someone uses the less is left for others. This type of unbiblical thinking leads to mankind being looked at as some kind of leech, instead of the blessing that they really are. They do not understand that God is the one who makes the pie. He can make it as big or as small as He desires. Before the industrial revolution, it was thought the earth could only support a much smaller population than it does now. But God has shown through the industrial revolution that it will support more. Furthermore, it will support even greater populations because God is able to provide for His people.
The Scripture is full of examples of people getting themselves into trouble when they put their trust in something other than God. Examples include King David counting his troops to measure his strength; King Asa making a treaty with another king instead of going to the LORD. Abraham and Sarah having a child through their slave instead of waiting for the LORD's provision, and the list goes on.
In Mathew 6:25-33 Yeshua (Jesus) said:
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life ? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
The main point of that Scripture is to lead us to seek God's righteousness and His Kingdom first, then God will provide for all our needs. God's righteousness can only be attained by the work Yeshua did on the cross for those who have repented of their sins and put their faith in Him. We seek His Kingdom in two ways; by leading others to Yeshua and giving birth to children and raising them up in Yeshua, in a Sanctified life with God included in every aspect.
The Scriptures also share that Yeshua is the Bread of Life. You can see Him in every aspect of the Passover Meal that has been practiced by Jewish people since they were led out of Egypt by Moses. Messianic Jews have already recognized Yeshua in the Passover Meal and are now Completed Jews having believed as Father Abraham did. And many other Jews will see this in the near future, and I'm not referring to the time of the Tribulation only.
So the next time you pray to the Father for your provision please remember to ask Him for more of Yeshua in your life. So that you may reflect His love and righteousness to others leading them to the Kingdom. And pray that God will give you a sincere love for children; that you will be fruitful and multiply Godly seed to populate both earth and heaven for eternity. You will indeed experience need, but remember that God has promised that He will provide for it. So LORD, Please Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread!
