Yeshua
In the Tanakh
(Old Testament)

Proclaiming Yeshua and His Father, Yahuwah!
Most people know the Savior of the World as “Jesus”, but did you know that His Hebrew Name is Yeshua.  His Name not only means salvation, but is the very word in Hebrew for salvation.  In John 5:39 Yeshua said:

Below is an article that uses the King James Version of the Bible to help reveal Yeshua in the Old Testament Scriptures.  We have replaced the English word “salvation” with the original Hebrew word “Yeshua”.  In addition to this we have also replaced the phrase “the LORD” with the original Hebrew word “Yahuwah”, which is believed to be the correct pronunciation of the Father's Name.  Lastly, we have replaced the English word “God” with the original Hebrew word “Elohim”.  We hope that you will be blessed as you read both the Son and the Father's Name in Hebrew, as revealed in the Old Testament.  Please notice, the Gospel message, and the intimate connection Yeshua has with His Father, Yahuwah.

I have waited for thy Yeshua, O Yahuwah.
Genesis 49:18

And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the Yeshua of Yahuwah, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
Exodus 14:13

Yahuwah is my strength and song, and he is become my Yeshua: he is my Elohim, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's Elohim, and I will exalt him.  Exodus 15:2

But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his Yeshua
Deuteronomy 32:15

And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in Yahuwah, mine horn is exalted in Yahuwah: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy Yeshua.  1 Samuel 2:1

He is the tower of Yeshua for his king: and sheweth mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore.  2 Samuel 22:51

Sing unto Yahuwah, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his Yeshua.  1 Chronicles 16:23

Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the Yeshua of Yahuwah with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for Yahuwah will be with you.  2 Chronicles 20:17

He also shall be my Yeshua: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.
Job 13:16

Yeshua belongeth unto Yahuwah: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.  Psalms 3:8

That I may shew forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy Yeshua.  Psalms 9:14

But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy Yeshua.
Psalms 13:5

Oh that the Yeshua of Israel were come out of Zion! when Yahuwah bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.  Psalms 14:7

We will rejoice in thy Yeshua, and in the name of our Elohim we will set up our banners: Yahuwah fulfil all thy petitions.  Psalms 20:5

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The king shall joy in thy strength, O Yahuwah; and in thy Yeshua how greatly shall he rejoice!
Psalms 21:1

His glory is great in thy Yeshua: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.  Psalms 21:5

A Psalm of David. Plead my cause, O Yahuwah, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.  (2)  Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.  (3)  Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy Yeshua.  Psalms 35:1-3 KJV

And my soul shall be joyful in Yahuwah: it shall rejoice in his Yeshua.
Psalms 35:9

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in Elohim: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my Elohim.  Psalms 42:11

(In the original Hebrew, this could be saying Yeshua is Elohim's face.  We know this because the italicized “who is” was added to the original Hebrew Scriptures and the words “the health” are translations of the Hebrew word "yeshua".  Also, the word “countenance” is a translation of the Hebrew word “paw-neem” and can mean “the face”)  So written with this understanding it would go something like this:

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in Elohim: for I shall yet praise him, Yeshua, the face of my Elohim.

Oh that the Yeshua of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice [gheel], and Israel shall be glad.  Psalms 53:6

To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. Truly my soul waiteth upon Elohim: from him cometh my Yeshua.  (2)  He only is my rock and my Yeshua; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.
Psalms 62:1-2

He only is my rock and my Yeshua: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.  Psalms 62:6

That thy way may be known upon earth, thy Yeshua among all nations.  Psalms 67:2

Blessed be Yahuwah, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the El of our Yeshua. Selah.  Psalms 68:19

But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy Yeshua, O Elohim, set me up on high.  Psalms 69:29

Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy Yeshua say continually, Let Elohim be magnified.  Psalms 70:4

For Elohim is my King of old, working Yeshua in the midst of the earth.
Psalms 74:12

In the next verse it explains why Yahuwah was angry with the children of Israel when He took them into the wilderness during the Exodus:

Because they believed not in Elohim, and trusted not in his Yeshua:
Psalms 78:22

The next verse is also very powerful when read in the original language.  In the English King James Version they added an italicized “and” and used “save us” instead of “Yeshua”.  Here it is in English :

Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come and save us. Psalms 80:2 KJV

Now here it is with the added word taken out and the original Yeshua used in place of “save us”:

Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come Yeshua.

A Song or Psalm for the sons of Korah, to the chief Musician upon Mahalath Leannoth, Maschil of Heman the Ezrahite. O Yahuwah Elohim of my Yeshua, I have cried day and night before thee:
Psalms 88:1

This next one shows that Yeshua became the King of Kings:

He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my Elohim, and the rock of my Yeshua.  (27)  Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.  Psalms 89:26-27

With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my Yeshua.  Psalms 91:16

This one shows that we are to proclaim Yeshua every day:

Sing unto Yahuwah, bless his name; shew forth his Yeshua from day to day.  (3)  Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.  (4)  For Yahuwah is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.  (5)  For all the gods of the nations are idols: but Yahuwah made the heavens.  (6)  Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.  (7)  Give unto Yahuwah, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto Yahuwah glory and strength.  (8)  Give unto Yahuwah the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts.  (9)  O worship Yahuwah in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.  (10)  Say among the heathen that Yahuwah reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.  (11)  Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.  (12)  Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice  (13)  Before Yahuwah: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.  Psalms 96:2-13

This one shows that Yeshua is the manifestation of the Father's righteousness:

Yahuwah hath made known his Yeshua: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.  (3)  He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the Yeshua of our Elohim.  Psalms 98:2-3

Remember me, O Yahuwah, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy Yeshua;  (5)  That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.  Psalms 106:4-5

Here is one that speaks of the Betrothal to Yeshua:

I will take the cup of Yeshua, and call upon the name of Yahuwah.
Psalms 116:13

Here is the same verse followed by verses that come after it.  It is a powerful messianic prophecy that speaks of Salvation in Yeshua that comes from Yahuwah.  It also speaks of the gratitude the Father has for those who give their lives for Him.

I will take the cup of Yeshua, and call upon the name of Yahuwah.  (14)  I will pay my vows unto Yahuwah now in the presence of all his people.  (15)  Precious in the sight of Yahuwah is the death of his saints.  (16)  O Yahuwah, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.  (17)  I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of Yahuwah.  (18)  I will pay my vows unto Yahuwah now in the presence of all his people,  (19)  In the courts of Yahuwah's house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye Yahuwah.  (117:1)  O praise Yahuwah, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.  (2)  For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of Yahuwah endureth for ever. Praise ye Yahuwah.  (118:1)  O give thanks unto Yahuwah; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.  (2)  Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.  (3)  Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.  (4)  Let them now that fear Yahuwah say, that his mercy endureth for ever.  (5)  I called upon Yahuwah in distress: Yahuwah answered me, and set me in a large place.  (6)  Yahuwah is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?  (7)  Yahuwah taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.  (8)  It is better to trust in Yahuwah than to put confidence in man.  (9)  It is better to trust in Yahuwah than to put confidence in princes.  (10)  All nations compassed me about: but in the name of Yahuwah will I destroy them.  (11)  They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of Yahuwah I will destroy them.  (12)  They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of Yahuwah I will destroy them.  (13)  Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but Yahuwah helped me.  (14)  Yahuwah is my strength and song, and is become my Yeshua.  (15)  The voice of rejoicing and Yeshua is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of Yahuwah doeth valiantly.  (16)  The right hand of Yahuwah is exalted: the right hand of Yahuwah doeth valiantly.  (17)  I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of Yahuwah.  (18)  Yahuwah hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death.  (19)  Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise Yahuwah:  (20)  This gate of Yahuwah, into which the righteous shall enter.  (21)  I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my Yeshua.  (22)  The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.  (23)  This is Yahuwah's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.  (24)  This is the day which Yahuwah hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.  (25)  Save now, I beseech thee, O Yahuwah: O Yahuwah, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.  (26)  Blessed be he that cometh in the name of Yahuwah: we have blessed you out of the house of Yahuwah.  (27)  Elohim is Yahuwah, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.  (28)  Thou art my Elohim, and I will praise thee: thou art my Elohim, I will exalt thee.  (29)  O give thanks unto Yahuwah; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.  (119:1)  ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of Yahuwah.  (2)  Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.  (3)  They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.  (4)  Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.  (5)  O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!  (6)  Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.  (7)  I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.  (8)  I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.  (9)  BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.  (10)  With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.  (11)  Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.  (12)  Blessed art thou, O Yahuwah: teach me thy statutes.  (13)  With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth.  (14)  I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.  (15)  I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.  (16)  I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.  (17)  GIMEL. Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.  (18)  Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.  (19)  I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.  (20)  My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times.  (21)  Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments.  (22)  Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.  (23)  Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.  (24)  Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors.  (25)  DALETH. My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.  (26)  I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.  (27)  Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.  Psalms 116:13-119:27

Yahuwah is my strength and song, and is become my Yeshua.

Behold, Elohim is my Yeshua; I will trust, and not be afraid: for Yah Yahuwah is my strength and my song; he also is become my Yeshua.  (3)  Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of Yeshua.  (4)  And in that day shall ye say, Praise Yahuwah, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.  Isaiah 12:2-4

And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our Elohim; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is Yahuwah; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his Yeshua.  Isaiah 25:9

In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; Yeshua will Elohim appoint for walls and bulwarks.   Isaiah 26:1

Thus saith Yahuwah, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of Yeshua have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;  Isaiah 49:8

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my Yeshua shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.
Isaiah 51:6

For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my Yeshua from generation to generation.  Isaiah 51:8

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth Yeshua; that saith unto Zion, Thy Elohim reigneth!
Isaiah 52:7

Next, we will take the same verse as written in the New International Version, and replace the word “salvation” with the original Hebrew word “Yeshua” and replace the word “God” with the original Hebrew word “Elohim”.  It will show clearly that we are to proclaim Yeshua to Israel (Zion).

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim Yeshua, who say to Zion, “Your Elohim reigns!”

Yahuwah hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the Yeshua of our Elohim.

And indeed they do testify about Yeshua, even by name.
